Measured at the resort village, not the top station. Live lift and piste openings are published by the resort itself — check their site on the day.
La Plagne is not one village but eleven, spread between 1,250 m and 2,100 m across a broad mountainside, from purpose-built high-altitude centres like Belle Plagne and Plagne Centre down to traditional hamlets such as Montchavin and Champagny.
It links by cable car with Les Arcs to form Paradiski, around 425 km of piste on one pass — one of the largest ski areas anywhere. The skiing is famously well suited to intermediates, with long cruising runs at altitude, and the resort still has the 1992 Olympic bobsleigh track. Winteride drives you in from Geneva or Lyon.
